Hike Laguna 513

Hiking to one of the most beautiful lagoons in the Cordillera Blanca, its strategic location under the Hualcán mountain makes it reflect an intense blue in its waters.

The hike Laguna 513 requires adequate acclimatization and physical preparation to walk for more than 6 continuous hours round trip.

This route is located within the area of the Huascarán National Park, in the province of Carhuaz, and is a good alternative if you have already visited Laguna 69 or Laguna Parón.

  • End of tour: 18:00 approx.

Program details

Itinerario:

Huaraz - Carhuaz - Pueblo Hualcán - Hike Lagunas Rajupaquinan, 513 and Cochca - return to Huaraz
Duration: 4 hours (by car go/back), 7 hours (hiking)

  • Departure with our transport to Carhuaz and here we take the road to the east side in the direction of the Cordillera Blanca, passing through the town of Hualcán on the way we will observe different agricultural crops, domestic animals of the communities and we obtain splendid views of the Huascarán mountain.
  • From here we will walk along an almost flat path to the entrance of the Shonquil valley, from this place we will take a path that becomes ascending in a zigzag and parallel to the Chucchún river until we reach the Rajupaquinán lagoon.
  • We will continue climbing until we reach Laguna 513, the which is located right at the foot of the Hualcán mountain (6,350 m). Here we will enjoy extensive views of the surrounding mountains and the magnificent color of the lagoon.
  • If we have enough time, we can visit a third lagoon called Cochca located below the Hualcan mountain but on the right side.
  • After a break, eating and taking pictures, we will return along the same path to our transport that will return us to Huaraz.

How many days do I need to aclimate in Huaraz before the hike?
It is very important to be well acclimatized to the altitude. We do recommend that you arrive to Huaraz at least 2 days before the hike starts to help you become acclimatized and avoid possible problems with altitude sickness while on the tour.

If you have already been in another area of Peru at high altitude before Huaraz, you can go to the tour the day after arriving in Huaraz

How to book the full day?
FIRST: To make a booking, please email us to check availability and receive customized booking form.
All clients will need to fill out a passenger details form. Please be ready with the following information (FROM EACH PARTICIPANT in your group). We need the following information:

  • Personal information (Full name, exactly as on your passport):
  • Gender and passport number
  • Nationality and date of birth.

SECOND: We require a deposit of 50% per person. You can make your payment by VISA/Mastercard/Dinners or another cards (payment link) or Wester Union (request our data).
