- WHAT TO KNOW?
Day 01: Huaraz – Pueblo de Collón – Ishinca base camp (4350 m).
By car: 1.5 hours hiking approx.
In the morning, the Qorianka team will come to your hotel to pick you up with private transportation. We will then head north through the Callejón de Huaylas until reaching the village of Paltay. From this point, we turn east along a dirt road that leads us to the village of Collón.
Here, our muleteer and his donkeys will be waiting to transport the equipment to the camp. The trail to the Ishinca Base Camp runs across a flat valley along the entire gorge, where the vegetation and the glacier-fed river will accompany us throughout the journey. After about 3 hours of hiking, the Palcaraju massif will greet us, and we will also enjoy views of the imposing Tocllaraju.
Finally, after approximately 4 hours, we will arrive at our base camp known as Ishinca. We will set up camp, have dinner, and spend the night.
Day 02: Base camp – Nevado Pisco Summit 5752 m – Base camp
Duration: 8 – 9 hours approx.
After a light breakfast, we begin our journey along a well-marked zigzag trail until reaching Vivaque Longoni, located at 5,000 m. We will rest for a few minutes and then continue through a rocky section and a dirt path until we reach the glacier. After about 3 hours of hiking, we finally arrive at the glacier. At this point, we will gear up with technical equipment, and once the guide has inspected all the essentials for the ascent, we will rope up to begin the climb across the glacier.
After overcoming crevasses, we reach the col between Ranrapalca and Ishinca mountains. Here, we take a short break and capture photographs of the surrounding peaks. We then continue the ascent until reaching the summit, where we enjoy splendid panoramic views of the surrounding mountains: Ranrapalca, Palcaraju, Tocllaraju, Pucaranra, Chinchey, and other 5,000-meter peaks such as Urus, Akilpo, and more.
We remain at the summit for a short time to rest, hydrate, and take photographs. Finally, we descend along the same route, returning to our camp where we will have lunch and rest for the remainder of the day.
